I believe that Linux User Groups (LUG) are excellent for anyone who wants to learn more about Linux (or BSD) as they tend to be a cheap (normally free) resource are often more accurate and faster than a commercial support solution.
I am a member of Nova Scotia Linux User Group (nSLUG) since its early days, am a founding member of New Brunswick Linux User Group (NBLUG), and the Greenwood (NS Canada) Linux User Group. I have also "lurked" among Fredriction Linux User Exchange (FLUX), and Canadian Linux User Exchange.
For a LUG in your area check , SSC's , Red Hat's, and Linux Online's lists.
